Mythology
Three brothers were among the Olympian Gods victorious in the War of the Titans. After casting lots to decide how the spoils should be split, Zeus would come to rule the heavens, Poseidon the seas, and Hades the the abode of the dead. Hades lorded over the underworld and his many subjects with absolute authority. Despite being the realm of the dead, however, living heroes, such as Hercules, Orpheus, Theseus and Odysseus were known to travel into Hades.
